Overlooking gorgeous Savusavu Bay, this luxurious eco-friendly resort’s main claim to fame is its dive centre, approved by the son of legendary ocean explorer and pioneer marine conservationist, Jacques Cousteau. But its other features are pretty impressive too, ranging from its 25 spacious garden and oceanfront villas with private terraces, hammocks and lounge chairs to a restaurant serving excellent Fijian and Asian cuisines. A night here will set you back the cost of a second-hand car (a good one too) but hey, the understated luxury is on an industrial scale – and at least the Wi-Fi’s free. Location perks? Located in the dreamy Tadrawai Valley, a short drive off the Queens Highway.
